We then do a 50km ride up and back, to the mountain of Doi Suthep overlooking the city of Chiang Mai.After our return to TransMotoSport headquarters showered and shaved we will meet for complementary dinner, drinks.
Day 2
We ride curvaceous undulating asphalt mountain roads. The temperature drops as we spiral to Altitudes of 2200m above sea level and traverse across the mountain ridge border that separates Thailand form Burma.

The day is filled with escarpment views, forest and extraordinary
people as we pass through many hill tribe villages of Akha, Palong and Lisu people. We will also come across numerous soldier camps from
Thai, Burmese and Shan State Armies.
Our final destination tonight will be the village of Thaton in a modern mini resort set by the Kok River beneath the Buddhist mountain
temples.

For those of you who wake at dawn, we will make up the mountain to Wat Thaton temple and watch the glorious sunrise after which we will assemble with the others for breakfast and make our way to Doi Mae Salong a charming community of ex-Chinese K.M.T. nestled at 1500m
.above sea level. This area previously was farmed for opium and is filled with colourful history, now converted to farming tea it’s a peaceful and aesthetically stunning region.
We pass on through Mae Salong and cross the once stomping grounds of freedom fighter / opium warlord Khun Sa on our way rising higher into the mountain of Doi Tung and the revered temple of Prathat.
After visiting Prathat we wind our way down the mountains to Mae
Sai, the most northerly point in Thailand and our nights rest. In Mai Sai you may cross into Burma and visit the manic market or a long neck Karen village.
Day 4

Today we are out of the mountains and onto the river flats, we ride to the point where the Mekong River separates three countries Thailand, Burma and Laos this is the centre of The Golden Triangle,
here may visit the opium museum, take a boat trip to a Lao island or enjoy a massage on the banks of the Mekong river. From here we follow the amazing Mekong River as it is the natural geographic border between Thailand and Laos.
As the Mekong River diverts into Laos we again rise into the mountains of the Luang Praubang Range with magnificent motorcycle roads, tremendous views over Laos and Thailand and more hilltribe.
